The end of a marriage or a long term relationship leading to separation or divorce can invoke extreme emotions, not just for the two individuals directly involved but also for any children, extended family, close friends and work colleagues.

Regardless of whether you or your partner make the decision to end your relationship the period that follows may be painful, chaotic, worrying, depressing and full of doubts and guilt. There is often an initial feeling of euphoria because he/she has finally made up their mind or you have finally found the courage and/or the opportunity to call time on the relationship. • Financial commitments need to be reviewed and adjusted
  • Accommodation for all those affected will need to be organised
  • Both individuals at the centre of the separation or divorce may feel daunted by the process they need to go though to move on in their lives
  • Friends and family can be a wonderful resource at this difficult time, but sadly their input isn’t always helpful; even if they appear to have your best interests at heart, they are inevitably seeing the situation from their own perspective.
